Trujillo, Peru

Trujillo is the most important economic center of northern Peru, but it is a city that is extremely underserved medically. A tremendous amount of patients require care due to a lack of access to surgical care in the northern mountain regions of Peru.

EsSalud is the largest healthcare provider in Peru with over 400 facilities. The Global Smile Foundation has partnered with EsSalud and Rotary Club of Trujillo to provide needed cleft care to underserved patients at the Centro Medico Especializado Casa Grande.

This mission was the fourth in four years at the Centro Medico Especializado Casa Grande. GSF partnered with EsSalud and the Rotary Club of Trujillo to provide corrective procedures for underserved Peruvians with cleft lips and palates. EsSalud staff prescreened patients for surgery prior to the full screening completed by GSF on June 19, 2011.
